Andrew Karas

Andrew (Andy) Karas brings a unique perspective to the practice of law, having a proven track-record in business leadership, finance, and operations prior to becoming an attorney. He uses his training, experiences, and wealth of tools to help clients create, develop, and implement a dynamic strategic plan to meet their business and personal goals. He practices primarily in the areas of corporations, small business, nonprofits, income tax, real estate, and estate planning.

He worked in several positions prior to becoming an attorney, including the CFO of a medical group and real estate holding company. Due to his experiences in health care, banking, and higher education industries, he is comfortable with highly-regulated, complex business planning. He’s equally comfortable working with individuals and families who are working on real estate transactions, job and contract changes, and trust and estate plans.

Andy received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. He then went on to receive a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management and additional graduate studies in Accountancy, at Drake University. He later returned to school and graduated with high honors from Drake University Law School, where he also earned a certificate in business law.

Over the years he has served on various non-profit boards, such as the Kirkendall Public Library Foundation in Ankeny, Restoring Hope International in South Africa, and the Faith Community Foundation in Des Moines. He was a founder and remains on the board (and is sometimes a high school teacher) of Two Rivers Classical Academy in West Des Moines.

Andy lives with his wife and two children in Clive and attends Redemption Hill Church in Waukee. He grew up near Fontanelle, Iowa, where he was home schooled by his parents and “farm schooled” by his grandparents.
