JACK WHITVER



State Senator Jack Whitver joined the firm of Hagenow Gustoff & LLP as an attorney in 2013, working in the areas of trusts and estates, business transactions, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and real estate. Jack began serving in the Iowa Senate in 2011, representing Ankeny, Alleman, and north Des Moines. In the Senate, Jack serves as Majority Leader. Following redistricting in 2020, Jack won reelection to represent his new district comprised of Grimes, parts of Clive and several other communities in northern and eastern Polk County.

Jack was born in Knoxville, Iowa and was raised in Grinnell, Iowa. Following graduation from Grinnell High School, Jack attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Business Administration.

While at Iowa State, Jack was a three year starter for the Cyclone football team, where he helped lead the Cyclones to three bowl games and the highest ranking in Iowa State history. Jack finished his career in the top 10 in all-time receptions and all-time receiving yards. In addition to being named an Academic All-American, he was twice named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team.

 

Jack graduated from Drake University Law School with High Honors in 2012. While in law school, he served on the Drake Law Review and was a student attorney in the Drake Legal Clinic.

 

Jack is a small business owner and is an active member of his community, serving on several boards. Jack lives in Grimes with his wife Rachel, daughters Ella and Elin, and son Andrew. The Whitver family attends the Lutheran Church of Hope.
